Slash Through Text Generator: Slashed Letters
A diagonal stroke through every character, the zero-with-a-slash look applied to a whole word.

Slash through places a diagonal line over each character using a combining mark, the same idea as a slashed zero in a technical font. It reads as cut, urgent or industrial, so it suits labels on a piece of hardware, mock serial numbers and gothic-styled artwork. As with the other combining-mark styles, the slash travels with the text and can be stacked if you convert twice.
Where people use it
- Make a label look like it was stamped on a machine or a crate.
- Add a harsh, mechanical feel to a poster or a cover title.
- Cross out a word with a diagonal rather than a straight line.
- Set a mock serial number or a batch code in a product graphic.
Frequently asked
- How is this different from strikethrough?
- Strikethrough draws a horizontal line through the letters, while this style cuts diagonally through them, which looks sharper and more industrial.
- Can I combine it with a gothic style?
- You can, since both are characters, but the two effects compete for the same strokes and the word quickly becomes hard to read.
- Does it survive a paste into a game name?
- Rarely. Many games filter combining marks out of display names, so expect the slashes to disappear there.
