Fancy Text Generator / ASCII art generator
ASCII art generator — photo to text art
Drop a photo, pick a width, and get character art you can paste into a readme, a chat or a terminal. Nothing is uploaded.
Pick a file to start.
The character art appears here.
How it works
1. Drop an imagePortraits and high-contrast photos convert best.
2. Pick a width60–140 characters; wider keeps more detail.
3. Copy or downloadPaste into a readme, chat or terminal; or save a .txt.
What it does and does not do
It maps the brightness of each pixel to a character, so the shape of the photo survives as text. It does not "understand" the image, add colour, or produce braille/emoji art — those are different tools. Use a monospace font to view the result.
Questions
- Is my photo uploaded?
- No — the conversion happens in your browser and nothing is stored.
- What width should I choose?
- 80–120 characters suits most uses; wider output needs a wider screen.
- Why does my result look inverted?
- Tick invert when you will paste it onto a dark background.
